Region: Kyushu Single Origin

Grown in the same region as Hoshinoseichaen. It uses the same shading and growing methods as Hoshinoseichaen's Seiho matcha, featuring a longer shading time with traditional straw shading.

This process involves natural canopy growth (shizen-shitate), traditional rice straw shading (honzu), and careful hand-picking to produce its deeply fragrant and unique aroma.

Cultivar: Saemidori 

Harvest: First Flush Ceremonial Grade. Hand-picked young tea leaves

Suitable for Koicha and Ushucha Ceremony 

Important water temperature: cold water or 40°C–50°C for the best umami and oika sweetness. 

Oika: 

Ōika (覆香 / おおい香) translates literally to "cover aroma" or "shading fragrance." It is the signature aromatic profile found exclusively in shaded Japanese green teas.

Rice straw allows moisture and air circulation that synthetic mesh cannot match, imparting Yame's distinctive "covering scent" (oika), high natural sweetness, and softened astringency.
